Perryman Honored As Eastern Oklahoma State College Outstanding Alumni

OKLAHOMA CITY – Eastern Oklahoma State College awarded State Rep. David Perryman (D-Chickasha) with the school’s annual Distinguished Alumni Award on April 6 during the school’s 10th Annual Sapphire Ball.

The Distinguished Alumnus Award is presented to alumni that have distinguished themselves from their peers both professionally and through service to EOSC.

Perryman graduated from Eastern in 1977 before attending Oklahoma State University and then OU Law.

“My support for Eastern Oklahoma State College is two-fold,” Perryman said. “The obvious reason is that the school has impacted my life and is dear to me and my family. The second reason and maybe the most important is because I think two-year colleges are underutilized.”

Not only did Perryman and his four siblings attend Eastern, he met his wife Jo there as well.

“For me and many people like me, a two-year school is a needed transition from high school to a four year school or even a career,” Perryman said. “Four-year universities and private schools get a lot of attention when people talk about college, but for millions of Americans, junior colleges are an important piece of the education puzzle.

“Knowing many of the talented and successful alumni from Eastern, I am humbled and honored by this award.”
